Answer: Yeah, I think you can only do one or the other. Had a similar situation happen to me. I like the convenience of the port, but wish it was a multi-functional. -

Answer: Yes, works with car play, plays music. I have a 2 for different vehicles. -

Answer: It depends on what you plug the other end to. In my car, I plan to hook the other end into my aftermarket Pioneer radio, so it should charge my iPhone.
